What is FBI Background Check?
FBI Background Check, also known as FBI Identity History Summary Check, is a report that summarizes an individual’s criminal history or activity. Information used in the report is obtained through federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
FBI Background Check is commonly required to satisfy a requirement for adopting a child out of state or in foreign countries, to satisfy a requirement for court-related matters or to seal, expunge, or remove inaccurate criminal history information, or to satisfy a requirement to live, work, study, or travel in a foreign country (i.e., police certificate, letter of good conduct, Identity History Summary check, etc.)
How to get an FBI Background Check?
You have three ways to submit a request. Electronically submit your request directly to the FBI, mail your request directly to the FBI, or turn to an FBI-Approved Channeler.
Your FBI Background Check can be issued in a digital copy (PDF format) or a hard copy. They are both valid and can be further authenticated.
Please note that FBI background checks are valid for only 6 months from their issue date.
How to Authenticate an FBI Background Check for Taiwan?
Taiwan is NOT a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. FBI Background Check destined for Taiwan needs to get authentication respectively from the U.S. Department of State (if required) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Washington D.C. The process for you is quite simple.
1. Order the U.S. Department of State Authentication and the Embassy Legalization Service.
If your FBI Background Check is issued directly by the FBI, just order the "Embassy Legalization" below;
If your FBI Background Check is issued by an FBI-Approved Channeler, order both the "Department of State Authentication" and the "Embassy Legalization" below.
2. Mail the following documents to our office:
